HELSINKI, October 21st - RIA NOVOSTI. The dialogue between Russia and the European Union helps to eliminate stereotypes, estimates the Finnish head of government, Matti Vanhanen.
Drawing up the balance sheet of the informal summit of the EU held on Friday in the Finnish city of Lahti and in which the Russian president, Vladimir Putin, took part, Matti Vanhanen declared on Saturday in the course of television intervention that he was satisfied with the summit which, according to him, gave rise to a debate honest, free and opened , without no topic passing under silence.
The Finnish prime minister underlined that he believed in the positive development of Russia, by noticing that for the moment Occident pointed out not much the positive changes which occurred there. Matti Vanhanen notably drew attention to the fact that Russia applied itself to develop judicial authorities and that exchanges of information were more free than it was thought in Occident.
The Russians are people as us and as us they want to live in prosperity and peace. And they advance, a step after other one, to get closer to Europe. We must answer it by a revitalisation of dialogue , underlined Matti Vanhanen.
