The World publishes at the beginning of this year a very instructive article on the Black Sea.
While the European Union spreads its borders up to the shores of the Black Sea thanks to Romania and to Bulgaria, and while Russia loses more and more its influence, notably in Ukraine and in the Caucasus there, this zone could well be the object of many strategical stakes in relations between Europe and Russia.
Germany has already put this region in the middle of the priorities of its swivel presidency of the European Union. Among stakes, it is possible to name hydrocarbons, with number of oil pipelines or gas pipelines which pass in transit by this region (oil pipeline BTC supported by United States, European Nabucco plan, Russian gas pipeline Blue Stream), but also the resolution of conflicts frozen in Transnistrie, Abkhazia, or Ossetia, as well as migrations, democracy, arms dealing or traffics of drugs
According to the American lobbyst Bruce Jackson, author of a called article The Soft War for Europe' s East , it is there that relations between Europe and Russia for the first decades of the XXIth century will define themselves.
