Nanotechnologies and nanomaterials in Russia: appraisal and main cooperations with France

http://www.bulletins-electroniques.com/rapports/smm07_031.htm

Published 4/30/2007 - 23 pages - pdf 408 KB

Authors: RYSCHENKOW Georges - BREUIL Reads

Nanotechnologies recuperate a various, multiple-subject, very active domain in Russia. Most big Russian scientific centres got involved there, whatever are their specialities: physical appearance, chemistry, electronics, biology, sciences of materials. These still very new technologies request, by their nature, an advanced instrumentation and the involvement of fundamental sciences. (more )

Appraisal of R&D in Russia and main axles of French-Russian scientific and technological cooperation

http://www.bulletins-electroniques.com/actualites/42699.htm

Published 3/30/2007 - 27 pages - pdf 452 KB

Russia has a strong scientific tradition but does not count any more today among countries in top in high technologies, because its economy leans principally on raw materials which she exports, and hesitates to acquire a scientific organisation and an efficient structure of innovation, in spite of notables efforts since 2002. A new type of mar motrices power stations

The production of energy by the force of tides in Russia is still anecdotal. But the specialists expect a considerable progress in this domain and lay the foundations for future developments. The managing director of the SARL " Nova a Energ tika [New Energ tique], Victor Liatkh re, offers a new approach of the conception of power stations with mar motrice energy. Idea is not to block the gulf entirely by a power station, but instal him on the part where the speed of the currents of tides is the strongest.

The power station is made up of machines floating or fixed on the bottom, converting the energy of tides into electrical power or, when this is impossible or not profitable, by escorting energy by some liquid or gaseous hydrogen. The regulating of the hydraulic resistance of turbines allows to attain a maximum production. In general the power of the installation depends only on financial capacities of the investor, but she remains limited by a value depending on hydrologic and topographical parametres. That is why the use of mar motrice force does not require to block the basin on all its length and to create a pressure head.

The turbine patented by M Liatkh re, can be of size and output important. It has one or several pairs of floors turning in compared senses, what diminishes the mechanical load acting on the turbine.
The installation does not have an influence on its environment. The distance between its pales is big and their speed is weak, barely 2 - 3 times the speed of current, what does not fluster aquatic fauna. The installation can be towed, have gone up and be easily disassembled.

Stimulation of innovation in Russia and Ukraine

Considered by many to be engine of economic growth, innovation deserves all attention, that it is in France, in Europe as in the Eastern countries.

BRUIT plan must introduce to institutions charged with the policy of innovation and to Russian and Ukrainian political leaders the best practices of management of the European policies of innovation, and worldwide. He will also favour the creation of narrower links between their national policies of innovation and those of the European Commission and Member states of the EU (more )

Russia very has interest in developing renewable energy sources

By ELEANOR DERMY
4/1/2006

Maintenance with Elena Merle-B ral, analyst to the International Agency of Energy (OUCH).

RSE: What is the potential of Russia in renewable energy sources?

Elena Merle-B ral: Russia has a huge potential, because it is a huge country, on very various climatic and geographical conditions. She has all possible renewable energy sources: biomass (all the energies coming from deterioration of the organic matter), hydraulic, geothermal energy (exit of the heat of the Earth), wind, solar or else mar motrice. Some sources are available only in some regions only, as for example the geothermal energy which is rather found in the Kamchatka or on islands Kuril Islands (Russian Far East). But on the other hand, all regions have at least one or two sources of renewable energy. (more )

The market and the Russian needs in renewable energy sources

By ISABEL BIGARD
4/1/2006

Renewable energy sources are practically away of the Russian energy landscape: they represent only 3,5 % primary consumption of energy [1] of the country and count electricity only for 0,5 % productions of (by excluding the big hydraulic dams). However, an important potential and a real need exist; the ongoing changes in the Russian energy sector could allow renewable energy (ENR) to find their place. (more )
